The excellent Heathrow Rewards has just launched an (up to) double miles bonus offer that’s well worth a look.
Transfer your Heathrow Rewards points to airline miles on or before 31 January and you will receive the following bonus:
- a 50% bonus if you are a standard member of Heathrow Rewards (so 375 airline miles instead of 250)
- a 100% bonus if you are a premium member of Heathrow Rewards (so 500 airline miles instead of 250)
The transfer bonus applies to transfers to the following airline loyalty programmes:
- BA Executive Club
- Aer Club
- Emirates Skywards
- Lufthansa Miles & More
- Royal Brunei Royal Skies
- Singapore Airlines Krisflyer
- Virgin Flying Club
Indeed, the only Heathrow Rewards airline partner excluded is Etihad Guest (which selfishly pleases me, because I recently made a massive transfer to Etihad Guest with no bonus, and it would have crushed me if one had suddenly appeared).
Given that you can ordinarily get a £5 voucher to spend at Heathrow with 500 points, you’re essentially buying air miles at 0.5 or 0.66 pence each, which is generally a good price (e.g. I very approximately value Avios at 1 pence each). The rather large caveat to the £5 voucher, of course, is that it isn’t actually cash, so technically you could argue it’s not worth £5. But it is if you were going to spend £5 at Heathrow anyway.
In short, and before I start confusing even myself, foregoing a £5 Heathrow voucher and instead getting 1,000 (or even 750) air miles is likely to be very solid value.
Premium gets an overhaul, too
Heathrow Rewards has also revamped its Premium Tier, bringing you benefits such as double points and a referral bonus. We’re just waiting on the full details here, and will run a post as soon as they’re fully available.
