We’d imagine that many readers of a website that focuses heavily on hotel loyalty are already members of IHG Rewards Club, the (excellent) loyalty scheme for the Intercontinental Hotels Group.

If you are, there’s a little bonus for you set out below. If you’re not, there’s a very good offer currently available.

The new member offer

Sign up to IHG Rewards Club via this link between 1 December and 31 December 2017, and you’ll receive:

  • 500 completely free Avios OR 1500 completely free IHG Rewards Club points
  • Fast track to Gold ElitePlus. It usually takes 10 nights to reach Gold Elite status, but via this fast-track, you will get Gold Elite status after just three nights.

You must be a British Airways Executive Club member to get the free Avios (if you’re not, join for free here), and have set your earning preference with IHG Rewards Club to British Airways – Avios with IHG Rewards Club (you can change your earning preference here).

If you’d rather have the IHG Rewards Club points, you don’t need to change your earning preference.

We’d probably recommend going for the IHG Rewards points, although there’s not much in it. We (somewhat unscientifically) value them at around 0.4 pence each, with Avios at 1 pence each. Therefore the 1500 points are worth around £6, with the Avios worth around £5. So frankly I’d go with whichever you’re more likely to use, but if there’s nothing in it for you – take the IHG points.

Your free Avios or IHG Rewards Club points will be awarded, at the very latest, by 15 February 2018.

Is IHG Rewards Club Gold Elite any good?

It’s well worth having, certainly.

On top of the ordinary Club benefits, perks include:

  • Extended Check-Out
  • Non-expiry of points
  • Priority Check-In
  • 10% bonus earnings on top of base points

The existing member offer

If you are already an IHG Rewards Club member, you will get 500 bonus Avios or 1500 IHG Rewards Club points  when you register here, book a 2 night stay, and stay before the 28th of February 2018.

Whether you get the Avios or the IHG Rewards Club points will again depend on your earning preference selected, per the new member offer above.
