The creatively-named spgcravings.com website is a very useful tool for the loyalty points bargain-hunter.
First of all, it confirms one thing: that you will earn SPG points when dining at restaurants at Starwood hotels even when you are not staying at the hotel.
Secondly, it will give you a discount of up to 30% on your dining!
The ability to earn Starpoints on your dining alone at Starwood hotels is a great little perk, and not one widely available (Hilton take note!).
You’ll earn 2 SPG points per US$1 spent at Starwood restaurants (Gold and Platinum Preferred members will earn 3 points per $1).
You do need to spend a minimum of $10 but… come on.
Are Starwood restaurants any good?
Well, there are a vast number to choose from and with any great array of restaurants, the quality varies.
However, there are some gems in there, not least London’s excellent One-O-One Restaurant at the Park Tower Knightsbridge, where you’ll also get 10% off the a-la-carte menu.
The spgcravings website also flags various other deals being run at the Starwood hotel in question, outside of the standard percentage off a-la-carte. Taking One-O-One again as our example, you can even benefit from 50% off a five-course tasting menu (and SPG points too).
Given just how flexible a currency SPG points are (useful in themselves for Starwood hotels, but also convertible into a huge number of airline miles too), this is a great opportunity to not only get a good deal at a quality restaurant, but earn loyalty points for doing so too.
