British Airways Avios are fantastic. For short haul Economy or Business Class flights, no other variety of airline miles can come close most of the time.

If you have a BA Amex 241 voucher, or transfer your Avios to Iberia Plus to book Iberia long haul Business Class to/from Madrid, etc, you can get some tremendous value from your Avios – there’s absolutely no doubt about that.

But, there’s a big wide world of different types of frequent flyer miles out there and if you just concentrate on Avios, you’re going to miss out on a lot of value.

Different frequent flyer programmes can often seem confusing though (for many people Avios is bad enough!). Therefore, over the coming weeks and months, UKTravelPoints will be de-mystifying a range of the best non-Avios airline programmes that you can collect Miles with here in the UK, and demonstrating the amazing value that thinking outside the ‘Avios box’ can achieve.

Ladies and gentlemen, please fasten your seatbelts – we might just blow your mind.
